H.<\/strong> precedes <strong>Thompson, A. G.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In more complex situations, this basic guideline may not be enough. That\u2019s probably why you\u2019re here, right? Luckily, APA created more detailed guidelines that are outlined in this article.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"same-first-author\">Multiple works with the same first author<\/h2>\n<h3>Single-author works<\/h3>\n<p>If the works have just one author, order them based on the publication date, listing the oldest source first. Works with no date come before works with a date. Works that are \u201cIn press\u201d come last.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"kb-textbox border-left blue\">\n<ul>\n<li>Warren, K. J. If the second author is the same, then order on the third author, and so on. S.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"no-author\">No author (source title)<\/h2>\n<p>When the author of a work is unknown, the source title is moved to the author position. In this case, the reference is ordered based on the title. Disregard \u201cA\u201d, \u201cAn\u201d, and \u201cThe\u201d at the beginning of the title. This letter appears in the <a href=index-3637.html#avoiding-ambiquity\">APA in-text citation<\/a> and the <a href=index-4980.html#same-author-same-date\">reference entry<\/a>. Order works by that lowercase letter.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"kb-textbox border-left blue\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Browning, H. (2020a)<\/strong> precedes <strong>Browning, H.
